ABSTRACT The objective of the study was to evaluate the reproductive phenology in a Monteverdia ilicifolia plantation, whose seedlings were produced with Trichoderma spp. and vermicompost, in order to identify the moment when the shift to the adult reproductive stage of the species occurs and possible effects of biostimulants on reproductive development of the species. The seedlings was carried out in tubes of 180 cm³ volume in a greenhouse in November 2015. For the Trichoderma spp. assay, three non-commercial strains (T1 and T2: Trichoderma asperelloides; T10: Trichoderma virens) inoculated in commercial substrate and one treatment without Trichoderma (control) were tested, comprising four treatments with five replications each, totaling 20 plants. For the vermicompost assay, different proportions of vermicompost and non-sterile soil were tested. The percentages of vermicompost evaluated were: 0; 20; 40; 50; 60 and 80% in relation to the non-sterile soil (treatments T0, T20, T40, T50, T60 and T80), being tested ten replications per treatment, totaling 60 plants. The seedlings were transplanted to the field at 330 days, at a spacing of 4.0 m x 3.5 m, constituting two trials, which were evaluated individually. The reproductive phenology of M. ilicifolia was evaluated in 2018, 2019 and 2020, using the presence/absence of flowering and fruiting method, quantified by the activity index (AI), which expresses the percentage of individuals that manifested the events in each sampling. The analyzes were carried out directly and monthly, between the months of August and December of each year. The first reproductive phenology of the species occurred 22 months after planting. The flowering activity index was more intense than the fruiting activity index during the three reproductive periods analyzed, but it is still incipient to infer about the action of biostimulants, in view of the presence of two floral types with characteristics that may have influenced the results found. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the floral typology of each cultivated individual to better understand the reproductive dynamics of the species in the study area and confirm possible effects of biostimulants.

RESUMO O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar a fenologia reprodutiva em um plantio de Monteverdia ilicifolia, cujas mudas foram produzidas com Trichoderma e vermicomposto, visando identificar o momento em que ocorre a mudança para a fase adulta reprodutiva da espécie e possíveis efeitos dos bioestimulantes no desenvolvimento reprodutivo das plantas. A semeadura foi realizada em tubetes de 180 cm³ de volume em casa de vegetação em novembro de 2015. Para o ensaio com Trichoderma spp., foram testadas três cepas não-comerciais (cepas T1 e T2: Trichoderma asperelloides; T10: Trichoderma virens) inoculadas em substrato comercial e um tratamento sem Trichoderma (controle), constituindo quatro tratamentos com cinco repetições cada, totalizando 20 plantas. Para o ensaio com vermicomposto, foram testadas diferentes proporções de vermicomposto e solo não-estéril. Os percentuais de vermicomposto avaliados foram: 0; 20; 40; 50; 60 e 80% em relação ao solo não-estéril (tratamentos T0, T20, T40, T50, T60 e T80), sendo testadas dez repetições por tratamento, totalizando 60 plantas. O transplante das mudas para o campo ocorreu aos 330 dias, em espaçamento 4,0 m x 3,5 m, constituindo dois ensaios, os quais foram avaliados individualmente. A fenologia reprodutiva de M. ilicifolia foi avaliada em 2018, 2019 e 2020, pelo método presença/ausência de floração e frutificação, quantificados pelo índice de atividade (IA), que exprime o percentual de indivíduos que manifestaram os eventos em cada amostragem. As análises foram realizadas de forma direta e mensalmente, entre os meses de agosto a dezembro de cada ano. A primeira fenologia reprodutiva da espécie ocorreu 22 meses após o plantio. O índice de atividade de floração foi mais intenso que o índice de atividade de frutificação no decorrer dos três períodos reprodutivos analisados, mas ainda são incipientes para inferir sobre a ação dos bioestimulantes, tendo em vista a presença de dois tipos florais com características que podem ter influenciado nos resultados encontrados. Por isso, é necessário avaliar a tipologia floral de cada indivíduo cultivado para compreender melhor a dinâmica reprodutiva da espécie na área de estudo e confirmar possíveis efeitos dos bioestimulantes.

ABSTRACT Ecotonal transition regions are neglected in floristic and ecological restoration studies, despite their vast occurrence and socioeconomic relevance. The present study evaluated the emergence and initial development of forest species from the ecotonal transition between the Pampas and the Atlantic Forest, in direct seeding, using inter-row green manure (Canavalia ensiformis). We tested sixteen species and evaluated emergence, survival and seedling height rates monthly for twelve months. Six species emerged and established themselves, with mean emergence values of 7%, survival rate of 73% and height of 20 cm. Larger seed species had higher emergence rates. All legumes in the study emerged (Enterolobium contortisiliquum, Parapiptadenia rigida, Bauhinia forficata and Mimosa bimucronata). The pitangueira (Eugenia uniflora) was the only recalcitrant seed species to present emergence. The coverage of jack bean provided greater establishment for Annona sylvatica and Enterolobium contortisiliquum, with statistical significance by the Wilcoxon test. For future studies on direct seeding, we recommend further study on the quality and size of forest seeds, responses in temperate climates, ideal sowing time, density and depth. For the green cover we recommend a higher sowing density and intercropping with other species, including native herbs and shrubs.

RESUMO As regiões de transição ecotonal são negligenciadas em estudos florísticos e de restauração ecológica, apesar da vasta ocorrência e relevância socioeconômica. O presente estudo avaliou a emergência e o desenvolvimento inicial de espécies florestais da transição ecotonal entre Pampa e Mata Atlântica, em semeadura direta, usando adubação-verde na entrelinha (Canavalia ensiformis). Testamos dezesseis espécies e avaliamos os índices de emergência, sobrevivência e a altura de plântulas, mensalmente, por doze meses. Seis espécies emergiram e se estabeleceram, apresentando valores médios de emergência de 7%, índice de sobrevivência de 73% e altura de 20 cm. Espécies de sementes maiores tiveram maiores índices de emergência. Todas as leguminosas do estudo emergiram (Enterolobium contortisiliquum, Parapiptadenia rigida, Bauhinia forficata e Mimosa bimucronata). A pitangueira (Eugenia uniflora) foi a única espécie de semente recalcitrante a apresentar emergência. A cobertura do feijão-de-porco proporcionou maior estabelecimento para Annona sylvatica e Enterolobium contortisiliquum, com significância estatística pelo teste de Wilcoxon. Para futuros estudos sobre semeadura direta, recomendamos aprofundamento na qualidade e tamanho das sementes florestais, nas respostas em clima temperado, na época de semeadura, densidade e profundidade ideais. Para a cobertura verde recomendamos maior densidade de semeadura e consórcio com outras espécies, inclusive herbáceas e arbustivas nativas.

ABSTRACT The present study analyzed the effect of artificial perches in the supply of vegetal propagules and in the avifauna attraction in degraded area due to mining, in Rio Grande do Sul, Southern Brazil. The seed rain was sampled monthly from December, 2014 to April, 2015, in four collector tables arranged under artificial perches and in four control collector tables (without perches). We compared the seeds number by the Mann-Whitney U test (5% probability level) and used the Spearman correlation to calculate the association degree among the visitor birds on perches and the seeds number sampled in the collectors under perches. The avifauna monitoring was performed during the same period by fixed point method, totalizing 40 hours of sampled effort. The treatments differed statistically, with registration of 1588 seeds in the tables under perches and 237 seeds in the tables without perches. The sampling of seed rain in the perches followed the pattern of avifauna visitation, presenting high value to coefficient of association degree (0.975). We observed nine species of birds in the study area, and the Tyrannidae family was predominant. The species observed visiting the artificial perches were Knipolegus lophotes and Tyrannus melancholicus, both from Tyrannidae family. The number of sampled seeds demonstrates that artificial perches were efficient to return seed rain in the mined areas. The Tyrannidae family demonstrates to be the most effective group of birds to dispersion of seeds in the local of study.

RESUMO O presente estudo analisou o efeito de poleiros artificiais no aporte de propágulos vegetais e na atração da avifauna em área degradada pela mineração, no Rio Grande do Sul, Sul do Brasil. A chuva de sementes foi amostrada mensalmente de dezembro de 2014 a abril de 2015, em quatro mesas coletoras dispostas sob poleiros artificiais e em quatro mesas coletoras testemunhas (sem poleiros). Comparamos o número de sementes pelo teste U de Mann-Whitney (nível de probabilidade de 5%) e usamos a correlação de Spearman para calcular o grau de associação entre as aves visitantes nos poleiros e o número de sementes amostradas nos coletores sob poleiros. O monitoramento da avifauna foi realizado no mesmo período pelo método de ponto fixo, totalizando 40 horas de esforço amostral. Os tratamentos diferiram estatisticamente, com registro de 1588 sementes nas mesas sob poleiros e 237 sementes nas mesas testemunhas. A amostragem da chuva de sementes nos poleiros seguiu o padrão de visitação da avifauna, apresentando alto valor para o coeficiente de grau de associação (0,975). Observamos nove espécies de aves na área de estudo, sendo a família Tyrannidae predominante. As espécies observadas visitando os poleiros artificiais foram Knipolegus lophotes e Tyrannus melancholicus, ambos da família Tyrannidae. O número de sementes amostradas demonstra que os poleiros artificiais foram eficientes para o retorno da chuva de sementes nas áreas mineradas. A família Tyrannidae demonstra ser o grupo de aves mais eficaz para dispersão de sementes no local de estudo.

Resumo O monitoramento por meio de bons indicadores ainda é um desafio na avaliação dos resultados de restauração ecológica no Brasil. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste trabalho é avaliar indicadores ecológicos do processo de restauração por plantio em núcleos implantados há dois e sete anos, no Rio Grande do Sul. Foram avaliadas 20 parcelas de 5 m x 5 m, em cada área, dispostas sistematicamente sob os núcleos. Todos os indivíduos arbustivo-arbóreos com altura superior a 30 cm foram contados e identificados. As espécies foram classificadas quanto à síndrome de dispersão e tolerância à sombra. Foram calculados o índice de diversidade de Shannon e a equabilidade de Pielou. A cobertura do dossel foi verificada com densiômetro esférico convexo. Análise de variância (p<0,05) foi utilizada para comparar indicadores de composição florística, estrutura e grupos funcionais entre as áreas. Modelos de regressão linear simples entre a área de ocupação dos núcleos e a riqueza e abundância da regeneração natural foram ajustados para verificar a expansão dos núcleos. Os resultados demonstraram maior riqueza, diversidade e percentual de cobertura de dossel na área com plantio em núcleos há sete anos. Houve diferença significativa para indicadores de composição, estrutura e grupos funcionais. O modelo de regressão linear simples para a área do núcleo em função do número de indivíduos foi significativo (p<0,05). Conclui-se que os núcleos implantados há sete anos estão sendo eficientes para a restauração ecológica. O período cronológico pós-implantação deve ser considerado como variável de influência na efetividade da restauração.

Abstract Monitoring through good ecological indicators is still a challenge in assessing the results of ecological restoration in Brazil. In this sense, the aim of this work was to evaluate ecological indicators of the restoration process by applied nucleation implanted two years and seven years ago in the south of Brazil. A total of twenty 5 m x 5 m plots were evaluated in each area, arranged systematically under the nuclei. All shrub-tree individuals with height greater than 30 cm were counted and identified. The species were classified according to the dispersion syndrome and shade tolerance. Shannon’s diversity and Pielou’s evenness indices were calculated. Canopy coverage was verified by a convex spherical densiometer. Analysis of variance (p <0.05) were used to compare floristic composition, structure and function group indicators between areas. We adjusted simple linear regression models between the area occupation of the nucleus and the richness and number of individuals of natural regeneration to verify the nuclei expansion. The results showed greater richness, diversity and canopy coverage percentage in the area with applied nucleation from seven years. There was a significant difference for composition, structure and function group indicators. The simple linear regression model for the nucleus area as a function of the number of individuals was significant (p<0.05). We concluded that the nuclei implanted seven years ago are being effective for ecological restoration. The post-implantation chronological period should be considered as a variable of influence on the effectiveness of the restoration.

RESUMO: O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar os padrões florísticos da regeneração natural em habitats de nascentes submetidos a diferentes ações de restauração ecológica na floresta estacional do bioma Mata Atlântica, Rio Grande do Sul. A composição florística foi avaliada em seis nascentes antes das ações de restauração e 12 meses depois. Todos os indivíduos regenerantes com altura maior ou igual a 30 cm e diâmetro à altura do peito menor ou igual a 5 cm foram contados e identificados em oito parcelas em cada nascente. A riqueza e abundância de cada nascente em cada avaliação foram comparadas pelo teste de Kruskal-Wallis (P <0,05). A Análise de Correspondência Retificada (DCA) foi realizada para verificar os padrões florísticos e a associação entre as espécies. Os resultados mostraram um aumento na riqueza e abundância após a implementação da restauração ecológica. A DCA apresentou uma composição florística distinta entre as nascentes. A vegetação natural remanescente nas áreas de nascente e o estágio sucessional da vegetação influenciaram o padrão de composição florística. A restauração passiva, efetivada pelo cercamento, favoreceu o desenvolvimento da regeneração natural.

ABSTRACT: This study analyzed natural regeneration floristic patterns in spring habitats submitted to different ecological restoration actions in the seasonal forest in Atlantic Forest biome, Rio Grande do Sul. We assessed floristic composition in six springs before restoration actions and 12 months later. We identified and counted all regenerating individuals with height greater than or equal to 30 cm and diameter at breast height less than or equal to 5 cm in eight plots in each spring. The richness and abundance of each spring and assessment were compared by the Kruskal-Wallis test (P<0.05). Detrended Correspondence Analysis (DCA) was performed to verify floristic patterns and association between species. Results showed an increase in richness and abundance after ecological restoration implementation. The DCA showed a distinct floristic composition between springs. The springs remaining natural vegetation and the successional stage of these vegetation influenced the natural regeneration floristic composition pattern. Passive restoration, which was effective by enclosure, favored natural regeneration recruitment.

Resumo O cultivo de plantas medicinais exige cuidado na aplicação de agroquímicos a fim de evitar a alteração da composição de seus princípios ativos. Os insumos biológicos são mais recomendáveis para esse propósito. Foi testado o efeito de Trichoderma spp. e vermicomposto em mudas de Bauhinia forficata Link., uma das espécies florestais mais exploradas para fins medicinais, a partir de dois ensaios instalados em delineamento inteiramente casualizado com 40 repetições, em casa de vegetação. Testamos duas estirpes de Trichoderma asperelloides (T1 e T2) e duas estirpes de Trichoderma harzianum (T13 e T33) inoculadas em substrato e um tratamento controle (substrato sem inoculação). O ensaio com vermicomposto testou as proporções de 0, 20, 40, 50, 60 e 80 % de vermicomposto (T1, T2, T3, T4, T5 e T6 respectivamente). As variáveis altura, diâmetro do coleto, teor de clorofila e número de folhas foram avaliadas aos 45, 90 e 135 dias após a semeadura. Analisamos também a sobrevivência, área foliar, biomassa seca total, da parte aérea e raízes e Índice de Qualidade de Dickson das mudas aos 135 dias após a semeadura. A área foliar foi submetida ao teste de Tukey (α = 0,05). Outras variáveis não apresentaram normalidade e homogeneidade de variâncias e foram comparadas por Kruskal-Wallis (α = 0,05). Os insumos biológicos influenciaram positivamente no crescimento inicial de Bauhinia forficata. A altura, o diâmetro do coleto, a área foliar e a biomassa seca (total, aérea e radicular) foram superiores em relação aos tratamentos controle, para ambos os ensaios. Dentre as estirpes de Trichoderma spp., T13 apresentou melhores resultados para o crescimento das mudas em relação à T33. Mudas produzidas com proporções maiores de vermicomposto (50, 60 e 80 %) apresentaram desenvolvimento estatisticamente superior em altura e diâmetro do coleto, a partir dos 90 dias após semeadura, quando comparado ao tratamento controle. No entanto, não houve um padrão claro de diferenças entre as outras doses testadas, exigindo mais testes de dosagem. Trichoderma spp. e vermicomposto mostraram-se promissores para produção de Bauhinia forficata para fins medicinais.

Abstract Crops of medicinal plants demand careful attention with agrochemicals in order to avoid changing the composition of its active principles. Biological inputs are more recommended for this purpose. We tested the effects of Trichoderma and vermicompost on Bauhinia forficata Link. seedlings, one of the most exploited species for medicinal purposes. Two trials were installed in a completely randomized design with 40 replicates in a greenhouse in southern Brazil. We tested two Trichoderma asperelloides strains (T1 and T2) and two Trichoderma harzianum strains (T13 and T33) inoculated on substrate and a control treatment (substrate without inoculation). The vermicompost assay tested the proportions 0, 20, 40, 50, 60 and 80 % vermicompost (T1, T2, T3, T4, T5 and T6 respectively). The variables of height, collar diameter, chlorophyll content and leaf number were evaluated at 45, 90 and 135 days after seeding. We analyzed seedlings survival, leaf area, shoot and root total dry biomass, and Dickson Quality Index at 135 days after seeding. Leaf area was submitted to the Tukey test (α = 0.05). Other variables did not present normality and homogeneity of variances and were compared by Kruskal-Wallis (α = 0.05). Biological inputs positively influenced the initial growth of Bauhinia forficata. Height, collar diameter, leaf area and try biomass (total, shoot and root) were higher in relation to control treatments for both trials. Among Trichoderma strains, T13 presented the best results in relation to T33. Seedlings produced with larger percentages of vermicompost (50, 60 and 80%) presented statistically higher development for height and collar diameter 90 days after seeding when compared to the control treatment. However, there was no clear pattern of differences between the other doses of this entry, requiring further dosing tests. Trichoderma and vermicompost showed to be promising for the production of Bauhinia forficata for medicinal purposes.

Abstract This study evaluates the potential of fauna attractiveness according to brushwood transposition in an abandoned mining area under restoration in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Sixteen areas of brushwood measuring 2 m² area and 1 m high were installed. The occurrence of fauna groups under and around the brushwood piles was then observed with use of bi-monthly surveys. Data were collected using a non-destructive method and the animals were identified by order and separated by taxonomic units. Twenty-three fauna orders were found, with the most frequent being Anura, Araneae, Hymenoptera and Isoptera. There was an increase in the number of taxonomic units found in each survey, with a significant difference after ten months of installation. The results indicate that the brushwood was attractive to the fauna and provided new habitats and coexistence between different fauna groups during the monitored period.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to identify the floristic composition and density of a seed bank transposed from a Seasonal Forest fragment in Rio Grande do Sul. The seed bank of the (BSI) fragment center and edge (BSII) of another forest fragment was also evaluated, both at medium to advanced successional stages. The seed bank was deposited in Brown-Gray Argisol and Red Argisol using exposed soil plots as control. ANOVA followed by Tukey test (p<0.05) were used to compare treatments for density and species richness. The density of individuals did not differ between treatments. Species richness was higher for BSI and BSII treatments in relation to control. The floristic composition presented different life forms, but was mainly composed of herbaceous species. It was concluded that the seed bank from the two donor areas contributed to the expansion of species richness in two soil types.

Conhecer a regeneração florestal em áreas dominadas por bambu pode auxiliar no gerenciamento das espécies nestas áreas, assim como auxiliar em propostas de recuperação e restauração destes ambientes. Dessa forma, o presente trabalho objetivou conhecer a estrutura, composição florística, mecanismos de dispersão, tolerância à sombra e hábito de vida das espécies da regeneração natural presentes em área sob domínio da espécie exótica Bambusa tuldoides Munro. O estudo foi desenvolvido em área de floresta estacional, município de Eldorado do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Foram demarcadas 30 parcelas de 12x12 m, totalizando 0,432 ha de amostragem. Foram medidos e identificados todos os indivíduos presentes na classe I: altura maior ou igual a 30 cm e menor que 130 cm (30≤ H<130 cm) e na classe II: circunferência à altura do peito menor ou igual a 5 cm (CAP≤5). Foram observadas baixa densidade de indivíduos e espécies, principalmente na Classe II. Ocotea puberula, Myrsine umbellata, Trichilia elegans e Cupania vernalis apresentaram maior distribuição e relação com a área de bambus. Quanto à ecologia das espécies da regeneração, a maiorias destas podem ser classificadas como tolerantes à sombra (53%), de dispersão zoocórica (87%) e hábito de vida arbóreo (54%). Conclui-se que na área de superabundância de Bambusa tuldoides analisada, a classe da regeneração apresenta baixa densidade de espécies, indivíduos de pequeno porte, tolerantes à sombra e de dispersão zoocórica. Estas informações, devem ser consideradas para futuras ações de manejo e recuperação no local de estudo.

Understand the native forest regeneration process in areas dominated by bamboo can be a support to the management of these species, as well as assist in proposals for recovery and restoration of these environments. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate concomitantly the structure, floristic composition, mechanisms of dispersion, shade tolerance and lifeforms of the natural regenerating species present in the area under dominance of exotic species Bambusa tuldoides Munro. The study was carried out in seasonal forest, in the municipality of Eldorado do Sul, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Thirty plots of 12x12 m (0.432 ha) were sampled and the plants divided into two classes. In Class I were measured and identified all the individuals with height greater or equal to 30 cm and less than 130 cm (30 ≤ H <130 cm) and in the Class II all the individuals with a circumference at breast height less than or equal to 5 cm (CBH≤5). Low density of individuals and species were observed, mainly in Class II. Ocotea puberula, Myrsine umbellate, Trichilia elegans and Cupania vernalis showed a greater distribution and relation with the bamboos area. About ecology, the majority of regenerating species can be classified as tolerant to shade (53%), zoocoric dispersion (87%) and arboreal lifeform (54%). It is concluded that in the area of superabundance of Bambusa tuldoides, the regeneration class (Class I) presents low density of species, small individuals, tolerant to shade and with zoocoric dispersion. It information should be considered for future management and recovery actions at the site.

ABSTRACT In order to evaluate the regeneration of a forest remnant, we installed 256 2 x 2 m plots for measuring forest species individuals with height ≥ 30 cm and stem diameter ≤ 1 cm. Horizontal structure was evaluated and calculated by the Shannon (H') diversity index and the Pielou (J) evenness index. We performed clustering analysis by the agglomerative and divisive hierarchical method (the variable was the number of individuals); and used the Principal Component Analysis to verify the species distribution. We sampled 3021 individuals, distributed in 26 families and 51 species (H' = 2.78 and J = 0.66). Allophylus edulis had the highest values of absolute frequency (63.3) and absolute density (5186 ind.ha-1), while Ligustrum lucidum presented greater dissimilarity. The analysis showed the presence of regeneration mechanisms, and evidenced biological invasion problem.

ABSTRACT Bauhinia forficata (Fabaceae) occurs in many phytophysiognomies of southern Brazil, however its ecological relevance is not well understood. The present study was developed in the Central Depression of Rio Grande do Sul and aimed to determine variations in pollen viability along flowering, ability to perform autogamy and dye efficiency for the viability test. Pollen viability was determined by colorimetry as well as the ability to perform autogamy by isolating floral buds, being evaluated in eleven matrices. Average pollen viability was 81.43%, with the highest average value obtained with the dye 2,3,5- Triphenyltetrazolium Chloride (TTC) (84.11%). Safranin was not a good indicator at the tested concentration. No correlation was found between pollen viability and flowering time. The species demonstrated an inability to perform autogamy.

RESUMO Bambuzais podem acarretar alterações na estrutura e composição florística da regeneração natural. O presente trabalho avaliou o impacto causado por Bambusa tuldoides na regeneração natural de mata ciliar no Rio Grande do Sul, sul do Brasil. Foram avaliadas duas áreas: mata ciliar sem bambus (SB), como área de referência, e área de mata ciliar substituída por Bambusa tuldoides (CB). Em 2014, dez parcelas (10x10 m) foram instaladas em cada área. Todos os indivíduos pertencentes às classes I (30≤ H<130 cm) e II (CAP≤5 cm) foram identificados. Avaliaram-se composição florística, índices fitossociológicos, índice de diversidade de Shannon, diversidade de Margalef Dominância de Simpson, similaridade de Sorensen e análise de agrupamento por Twinspan. Riqueza e densidade absoluta foram menores em CB, comparativamente a SB. As áreas apresentaram baixa similaridade florística e alta dominância de uma ou mais espécies em ambas as classes. Myrtaceae foi a família predominante em SB, com destaque para Campomanesia xanthocarpa. Em CB, a maioria das espécies foram secundárias, como Myrsine umbellata, Cupania vernalis e Ocotea puberula. Devido às grandes diferenças entre SB e CB, os agrupamentos formados ficaram restritos, em sua maioria, às espécies de cada área. Espécies como Myrsine umbellata (classe I e II) e Strichnos brasiliensis (classe II) aparecem como indicadoras e formadoras de grupos em CB. Conclui-se que adensamentos de Bambusa tuldoides afetam a riqueza e diversidade da regeneração natural, alterando o estabelecimento e perpetuação das espécies. Espécies secundárias demonstram maior potencial de adaptação a estes ambientes, podendo atuar como espécies-chave em ações de manejo e recuperação.

ABSTRACT Bamboo grove may cause changes in the structure and floristic composition of natural regeneration. This study evaluated the impact caused by Bambusa tuldoides Munro at natural regeneration, in riparian forest in Rio Grande do Sul, south of Brazil. Two areas were evaluated: riparian forest without bamboos (SB) as the reference area, and riparian forest dominated by Bambusa tuldoides (CB). In 2014, ten plots (10x10 m) were installed in each area. All individuals belonging to classes I (30≤ H <130 cm) and II (CBH≤5 cm) were measured and identified. Floristic composition, phytosociological indexes, Shannon diversity index, Margalef richness, Simpson dominance, Sorensen similarity, and cluster analysis by Twinspan were evaluated. Richness and absolute density decreased in CB compared to SB. The areas presented low floristic similarity, and high dominance of one or more species in both classes. Myrtaceae was the predominant botanic family in SB, especially Campomanesia xanthocarpa. In CB most species were secondary, as Myrsine umbellata, Cupania vernalis, and Ocotea puberula. Due to the large differences between SB and CB, the groups formed were restricted mostly to the species of each area. Species such as Myrsine umbellata (class I and II) and Strichnos brasiliensis (class II) appear as indicators and former of groups in CB. We concluded that high density of Bambusa tuldoides affect the richness and diversity of regeneration natural, changing the establishment and perpetuation of the species. Secondary species show greater potential for adaptation to these environments and can act as key species in management and recovery actions.

The current paper focuses on potential medicinal use of forest species from Deciduous Seasonal Forest in central region of Rio Grande do Sul State, South Brazil. Floristic and phytosociological surveys were carried out in 2011 and 2012. Results were compared with the available information in scientific literature about popular knowledge and biological/pharmacological evidences. Each species was classified in use categories to diseases, symptoms our disorders based on the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD). In 2011, we found a total of 31 species, 77,4% of them with medicinal use. In 2012, we found 33 species,72,7% of them with medicinal use. The species most frequently mentioned were Casearia sylvestris, Eugenia uniflora, Cabralea canjerana, Luehea divaricata, Parapiptadenia rigida and Vitex megapotamica. The main species with biological/pharmacological properties were C. sylvestris, E. uniflora, L. divaricata, V. megapotamica and Zanthoxylum rhoifolium. We concluded that there is a considerable potential for medicinal purposes to forest species from Deciduous Seasonal Forest in the study region. We recommend further studies mainly about the species Prunus myrtifolia, Zanthoxylum rhoifolium, Cabralea canjerana and Casearia sylvestris which presented references to antitumoral properties.

RESUMO O presente trabalho teve como objetivo geral caracterizar a influência do solo e da topografia no componente arbóreo de fragmentos, no entorno do Reservatório Divisa, na região dos Campos de Cima da Serra, Sul do Brasil. O levantamento da vegetação foi realizado em quatro fragmentos, sendo em cada parcela (10 x 20 m) efetuada a identificação e medição da circunferência à altura do peito (CAP) dos indivíduos com CAP ≥ 30 cm. Os dados de vegetação foram submetidos à análise de agrupamento. Adicionalmente, foram obtidas as variáveis ambientais, como declividade média das parcelas e amostras de solo, na camada de 0-20 cm de profundidade. A correlação entre os dados ambientais e de vegetação foi realizada por meio da Análise de Correspondência Canônica. As características físicas do solo não apresentaram influência nos grupos formados e nas espécies. Nos capões, a constante presença do gado influenciou negativamente a estrutura do sub-bosque, assim como as características químicas do solo. Alumínio e saturação por alumínio apresentaram maior influência nas espécies predominantes da mata ciliar enquanto cobre e enxofre influenciaram as espécies presentes nos capões. Espécies como Araucaria angustifolia, Eugenia uruguayensis, Blepharocalyx salicifolius, Calyptranthes concinna, Lithraea brasiliensis, Myrsine coriacea, Ocotea pulchella e Sebastiania commersoniana são adaptadas à mata ciliar, podendo ser utilizadas na recuperação e enriquecimento desses ambientes.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to characterize the influence of the soil and topography in the tree component of the fragments, in around the Divisa Reservoir, in the region of the Campos de Cima da Serra, Southern Brazil. The vegetation survey was conducted in four fragments, with each plot (10 x 20 m) performed the identification and measurement of the circumference at breast height (CAP) of subjects with CAP ≥ 30 cm. The vegetation data were subjected to cluster analysis. In addition, environmental variables were obtained as an average slope of plots and soil samples at 0-20 cm depth. The correlation between vegetation data and environmental data was performed by means of Canonical Correspondence Analysis. The soil physical characteristics showed no influence on the groups formed and species. In the geldings, the constant presence of cattle influenced negatively the structure of the understory, as well as the chemical characteristics of the soil. Aluminium and aluminum saturation have higher influenced on the predominant species of riparian vegetation as influenced copper and sulfur species present in geldings. Species such as Araucaria angustifolia, Eugenia uruguayensis, Blepharocalyx salicifolius, Calyptranthes concinna, Lithraea brasiliensis, Myrsine coriacea, Ocotea pulchella and Sebastiania commersoniana are adapted to riparian and can be used in the recovery and enrichment of these environments.

O presente trabalho objetivou caracterizar a relação solo-vegetação em remanescente da Floresta Estacional Decidual na Região Central do Rio Grande do Sul a partir da análise da relação entre atributos edáficos e dois grupos fitossociológicos (G1 e G2). Características químicas e o percentual de argila do solo foram submetidos à análise da variância e suas relações com G1 e G2 foram avaliadas por análise de componentes principais (ACP). Para tanto, G1 e G2 foram classificados em 3 intervalos de declividade: 1-14º; 15-34º e 35-45º. Foram identificados Neossolo Litólico nas áreas declivosas e Neossolo Quartzarênico nas áreas planas. G1 na declividade 35-45º e G2 em 1-14º foram mais sensíveis à variação da qualidade química do solo. A relação dos grupos fitossociológicos com a qualidade química do solo aumentou proporcionalmente ao aumento de declividade. Relevo declivoso, pedogênese incipiente e material de origem sedimentar ressaltaram a fragilidade da área, o que valoriza a presença da floresta para a manutenção de serviços ambientais.

The present study aimed to characterize the soil-vegetation relationship in Seasonal Deciduous Forest remnant at Central Region of Rio Grande do Sul, starting from the analysis of the relationship between soil attributes and two phytosociological groups (G1 and G2). Chemical soil characteristics and clay percentage were submitted to variance analysis and relations with G1 and G2 were evaluated by Principal Components Analysis (PCA). Therefore, it was classified G1 and G2 within 3 slope intervals: 1-14°, 15-34° and 35-45°. Leptosols have been identified in high slopes and Arenosols in the plan area. G1 in 35-45° and G2 in 1-14º were more sensitive to soil chemical quality. The phytosociological groups and soil quality relationship increased proportionally with the increase on slope. The declivous relief, recent pedogenesis and sedimentary parental material highlighted the fragility of the area, which emphasizes the forest presence for the environmental services maintenance.
